Second Inter-Church Consultative and Advisory Group Meeting PDF Print E-mail

Church leaders gathered together for the second time to plan for NBW 2012

Leaders from various churches and organizations gathered again last September 9, 2011 to plan for the 2012 National Bible Week. The meeting’s discussion focused on various topics concerning the celebration of this nationwide event. The participants spent the first part of the meeting brainstorming on how to improve the NBW 2012 poster with the majority suggesting that the chosen theme for the celebration (Pagpapahayag ng Salita ng Diyos Tungo sa Pagbabago – Proclaiming God’s Word Towards National Transformation) must be further incorporated into the design.

Among the other topics discussed during the meeting was the request for a new presidential proclamation from the current administration. Though, the request has been denied since past proclamations are still in effect, the group have agreed instead to ask President Aquino to release a statement endorsing NBW which will help strengthen its celebration all over the country. It was also suggested during the meeting to propose a new legislation (with Chief Justice Reynato Puno drafting the bill) that will institutionalize the celebration of NBW. The historical Aguinaldo Shrine located in Kawit, Cavite was chosen as the venue for the main I-Proclaim event, which will culminate the National Bible Week celebration. Other matters discussed was the Handwritten Unity Bible fundraising project for the May They Be One Bible campaign which was given an in-depth explanation during the meeting so as to encourage everyone’s participation and to get the involvement of their churches and affiliations as well.
