PBS unveils a new Bible translation PDF Print E-mail
The FSV BibleA new Tagalog translation of the New Testament has arrived in town!

Christian Development Center, Tagaytay City -- On July 22, 2009, the Philippine Bible Society, headed by its General Secretary Mrs. Nora G. Lucero, introduced to the participants of the Philippine Council of Evangelical Churches (PCEC) 28th National Assembly, the Filipino Standard Version (FSV). FSV is the first literary-liturgical translation in the country, which aside from a faithful translation from the original Greek text, is also translated to sound lovely when publicly or communally read in churches. The words used in this translation are formal, yet lyrical and contemporary in style and flow to ensure a pleasurable reading experience of the New Testament in our rich Filipino language.

The members of the PCEC Board of Trustees were present to support the launching. After the unveiling of the FSV Bibles, Reverend Valentin C. Chavez—a PBS Board of Trustee and President of the Foursquare Churches in the Philippines—dedicated the Bibles to the Lord and prayed that this new translation will be used mightily for Scripture engagement throughout the Philippine churches.
