The diocese in Kalibo, Aklan is buzzing with Bible activities. Since  the  diocese  started  distribution  under the May TheyBe One (MTBO) Bible campaign in November 2009, it has distributed  more  than  1,700 Bibles among the parishioners. Diocesan  Bible  Minister  Fr.  Arnaldo Crisostomo said that within five months since the MTBO distribution, the number of people attending Mass in the barrios has doubled. The distribution has significantly  spurred the growth of Basic Bible Seminars and Bible formation, spreading to 23 out of 24 parishes.  Whereas Catechists in the past were dependent on materials from different sources,  Fr. Crisostomo said that Catechists have now become more Bible-centered, integrating Bible teachings with their particular context and need.  There is a big clamor among the parishioners for more Bibles, especially for the Hiligaynon MTBO. To help meet the demand, the parishioners approached a number of Non-Government Organizations and succeeded in raising funds for Bibles.  Fr. Crisostomo also began the practice of holding second collections to buy Bibles. From the donations the Kalibo diocese, notwithstanding the fact that it has many poor members itself, was even able to donate P16,000 towards the national MTBO Bible campaign.  This year, the parishioners plan to procure 5,000 MTBO Bibles, as a stepping stone in their plan to saturate all of the Diocese of Kalibo with the Word of God.
