MTBO in Landayan PDF Print E-mail
The Shrine of Jesus Christ in the Holy Sepulchre, Landayan, San Pedro, Laguna, is a favorite site for Filipino pilgrims in search of miracles of healing.  In August 2008, the shrine took on a new and wider dimension when Msgr. Jose Barrion launched a Bible Study class for its church workers.  He said that the healing which was being attributed to the image of Jesus in the Holy Sepulchre must lead people into a deeper relationship with God.  Today, many people come not just to visit the image of Jesus, but also to learn about God and His Word.  However, the growth in the number of Bible learners also gave rise to a demand for more Bibles.  Those who have Bibles were happy that they could read their lessons in advance at home.  But learners with no Bibles were lagging behind.  In October 2009, Msgr. Barrion learned about the May They Be One Bible campaign and availed himself of its offer for affordable Bibles.   MTBO helped the Bible Study groups to grow by leaps and bounds.  Learners have grown to more than 10 groups each having about 50 members.  Now the Shrine of Jesus Christ in the Holy Sepulchre has become, not just a pilgrim’s place for healing, but also a center for believers enjoying the exciting journey of a growing relationship with the Lord Himself through a diligent study of His Word.
