Committing to Christ’s call to pray for one another, 35 members of the Philippine Bible Society from different faith confessions gathered for united prayer session last February 19, 2018 at the PBS Ministry Building. The prayer meeting kicks off the preparations for the Annual Members’ Meeting scheduled on April 21.
The attending members hailed from different areas such as Manila, Pandacan, Tondo, Bulacan, Laguna, Cavite, and even as far as Nueva Ecija. Among these regular comers is Mrs. Ligaya Gamit, a 72-year-old woman who left her house in Rizal, Nueva Ecija at 4:00am to make it in time for the meeting.
“I wanted to spend my free time here in fellowship with the other members,” Mrs. Gamit said. “I have always loved getting Scripture materials and books here so I could distribute to the children I teach.”
Like Mrs. Gamit, the other present members were also glad to spend the Monday morning covering specific Bible ministry concerns in prayer. They were welcomed by Dr. Nora Lucero, PBS General Secretary, who also shared the joy of what PBS has accomplished in the past years.
One member said, “What PBS does is really important. This ministry can reach people even in the mountains like our community, because their different programs bring the Bible up there.”
Aside from praying together in groups, the members were also joined and updated by PBS staff on different activities, including the recent National Bible Month celebration.
Everyone is encouraged to join the next prayer meeting in March. For more information on how to be a PBS member and get involved in the Bible cause, please click here.
